This morning I took a different path from my lodging and found these little girls distributing flowers for the festa. I couldn’t resist a tiny bouquet.
Everyone is wearing flowers in their red bandannas. I had to get a bandanna too, and three lovely ladies helped me to pick out a bandanna and attach the flowers.
They told me that the colored borders on the red bandannas indicate the favored saint: St. Ubaldo for the stonemasons, St. Giorgio for the artisans and merchants, and St.Antonio for the farmers. The favored saint is passed down through generations of the family.
I picked the artisans, and they immediately started singing a song about St. Giorgio. Nice gals. The community and festa spirit here is high!
